Should You Tip Chauffeurs?

Tipping is something all of us are familiar and comfortable with, especially with restaurant servers, hairdressers, valet staff, etc. But what about other roles? How do we know when and how and if we should tip someone?

One of the most oft-asked questions of us at Dav El | BostonCoach is if our clients should tip their chauffeurs, and if so, how much? Luckily, the answer is in your hands as it’s entirely up to you.

Our drivers are forbidden from soliciting gratuities or tips. It is Dav El | BostonCoach’s policy to provide unparalleled service. With that, our fees include appropriate compensation for all of our drivers. And tips should be provided only at the discretion of our clients.

The Dav El | BostonCoach pricing structure is provided to our clients from the very beginning of the booking process, so that anyone may see the costs associated with their trips.

As with all Dav El | BostonCoach trips, you should expect incredible service from your chauffeur. If you feel that their service went above and beyond what was expected, any additional tip you would like to provide is your decision. The policy to limit gratuity solicitation is important to us at Dav El | BostonCoach, as it reinforces our commitment to providing each and every one of our clients with the service that they should expect.

Should you feel the need to tip your chauffeur, again, at your discretion, the standard tipping amounts are: $10-$20 tip for an airport or point to point transfer, or up to $50-$100 for all day service (especially for special occasions or day-long trips where the chauffeur waits for you). More tipping suggestions for many types of drivers can be found here.

So remember, tipping beyond the agreed upon initial booking rate is truly in the hands of you, the client. We would hope that all of our client’s needs would be met or exceeded, and if you should choose to thank your chauffeur further, then that is absolutely your decision.
