Route 495 Rehabilitation Project

New Jersey Department of Transportation announced lane closures will begin mid-August as part of the rehabilitation of the Route 495 Bridge over Route 1&9 and Paterson Plank Road in North Bergen. Construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 10, 2018, with the closure of the 31st Street ramp from Kennedy BLVD to Route 495 westbound. Traffic will be detoured onto Patterson Plank Road.
On Friday, August 17, 2018, one lane in each direction will be closed on Route 495, limiting roadway capacity and causing severe congestion. The exclusive bus lane (XBL) will remain open during construction. The construction is anticipated to last two and a half years.
