D.C. Dining and Nightlife

In terms of pomp, circumstance, and even yes, conservative dress, Washington D.C. doesn’t usually stray from the tried and true. A traditionalist town at heart. But these days, more and more restaurants and night spots popping up, dare to push the limits, giving visitors, business travelers, and even Hill staffers, a chance to shake off the norm and try something new.

Cuisine

While it’s true that old standbys such as 1789 and Old Ebbitt Grill are still popular, other dining establishments have become popular for their twists on favorites and unique creations. One such place includes Rose’s Luxury. Although typically laden with an incredibly long wait, Rose’s Luxury is worth it. Small plates, served farmhouse style, make for a delicious dining experience, and a memorable one at that.

Described as a “restaurant for grown-ups,” Corduroy serves American cuisine in a perfectly refined manner, but gives diners a chance to really enjoy the food and not just the atmosphere.

Italian dishes take on a new life under the hand of Chef Fabio Trabocchi at Fiola. A Penn Quarter restaurant that sources from local farms, the daily-changing three-course menu is a little pricey, but unforgettable.

Nightlife

After a hard week of D.C. politics, locals like to check out these hot night spots that’ll make your evenings and weekends decidedly un-boring.

A music venue in southwest D.C. on the rejuvenated District Wharf, The Anthem is hip, cool, and draws a cool variety of talent.

If you’re in D.C., want a night out, but may be dressed up a bit, then the POV at W is the place for you. There is a dress code enforced after 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (noted as “casual sophistication”), but the location on the rooftop of the W Hotel, with spectacular, sweeping views of the DC skyline, is worth it. The drinks are great, the dance floor lively, and the clientele is entertaining.

So, if you’re in D.C. for business or pleasure, plan ahead to venture out and enjoy some tasty cuisine and good times – sometimes it’s good to get off the beaten path. And remember, you can always book your chauffeured ground transportation with Dav El|BostonCoach.
